Full Day Kindergarten
Kindergarten Registration Week - February 22-26, 2010
The Ministry of Education is phasing in universal access to Full Day Kindergarten (FDK) over 2 years. FDK programs will be run at Silverthorne, Twain Sullivan, Telkwa, Muheim (English), Lake Kathlyn, and one class at Walnut Park for the 2010-2011 school year. The second class at WP will remain half day. Please note that children registered in FDK programs will be expected to participate the full day.
With the new school year starting and the anticipated arrival of the flu season, there will be many questions regarding H1N1 (Swine Flu). As you may have heard, the Ministry and Public Health do not expect school closures in the event of student(s) contracting H1N1. Health officials have determined that the H1N1 virus is quite stable over time and rather like regular influenza, which infects far more people each year. We will continue to work closely with Northern Health and need to ensure our public are as informed as posible regarding H1N1, including its symptoms, possible treatments and prevention.
If you have questions regarding H1N1, please check the government site at www.gov.bc.ca/h1n1 We have also included some additional information links below.
